1 Chapter 14 Searches and Seizures
4th Amendment -- The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated. No warrants shall be issued without probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.

2 New Jersey v. TLO School officials are looked upon ‘as a parent’ by the courts when making decisions to conduct searches of students on school property.

3 New Jersey v. TLO School officials only need “reasonable suspicion” when determining if a search of a student or their possessions should be conducted.
