13 Working hours limits for rail sites only

25 Wildlife issues Certain species you may encounter on site are protected by law and the penalties for disturbing them can be severe on the company and individuals Among the protected species you may encounter are bats, badgers, Great Crested Newts Nesting birds are also protected by law Never disturb or otherwise harm any wildlife whilst on site Seek advice from the Site Manager if you come across anything on site which you have not previously been advised of CG Version 5 Safety | Communication | Quality | Integrity | TeamSpirit | Caring | Trust | Pride

26 Invasive plants Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed are plants commonly found on sites. It is illegal to plant or otherwise encourage the growth of these plants. Immediately stop work if you think you are working near to either of these plants and seek advice from the Site Manager Don't track plant or vehicles over areas infected with either plant Wear protective clothing before touching Giant Hogweed Avoid contact, it can you cause severe irritation, swelling and painful blisters Seek medical advice if you have been in contact with its sap Don't handle or cut these plants without advice Don't excavate or move any soil from within 7 metres of a Japanese Knotweed plant without instruction Don’t stockpile potentially contaminated material within 10 metres of a watercourse or drain CG Version 5 Safety | Communication | Quality | Integrity | TeamSpirit | Caring | Trust | Pride
