3 Marshall High School Athletics Philosophy
Participation in athletics should be an enjoyable, rewarding, and enriching experience for everyone involved. It should be extremely positive and complement the educational experience athletes are receiving at Marshall High School. STUART’S STATEMENT: Their purpose is to educate. The privilege of athletic participation is earned through the maintenance of proper standards of attitude, attendance, and achievement. Through participation in athletic centered interscholastic activities, FHS students will develop values, attitudes, and skills for personal growth and for the benefit of a diverse society. We are committed to our vision of “Access and Excellence”.

Attendance Alcohol/Tobacco/Drugs No energy drinks- VHSL rule! Bullying/Hazing/Harassment- Zero tolorance, you are teammates! Attendance: Come to school on time, and attend all your classes, unless excused due to illness or other emergency. What’s excused and unexcused absences Alcohol/Tobacco/Drugs: Do not bring, use, share, or sell alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products, or imitations or synthetic versions of these substances at school or school- sponsored trip or activity. Everyone has the right to be treated with dignity. Intentional demeaning and intimidating treatment-whether verbal, physical, written, or electronic-can harm an individual and the community.

Participation Policy Behavior in and out of school 30 days Respect for Teachers, Staff and Admin Attendance & Tardies - Need to be in school ALL DAY CONSEQUENCES: The first violation of this subsection shall result in suspension for 30 calendar days from all student activities, including teams, clubs, and all other school-sponsored activities. A second violation of this subsection within 12 months of the prior offense also shall result in suspension from all student activities including teams, clubs, and all other school-sponsored activities for the remainder of the school year.

Sportsmanship Respect All… Officials, Coaches, Opponents, Fans On Field - Keep your mouth shut. Coaches/Captains communicate On Bench- Stay on bench, keep your mouth shut. Cheer on your team. Ejections- “Stay in the Game”
