This training is essentially a DISC training. DISC factors: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. For preparation: Read and use the book: The Behavioural Blueprint, by Lothar Seiwert and Friedbert Gay. Publisher: Persolog. Calling and Destiny (for this session chapter 2 is important), by Paul Donders. Publisher: Europartners, see (also available as download). Watch the instruction video (part 7). Before you start: Make sure everyone has a hand-out they can work with and in which they can write notes. Start: Give everyone a warm welcome.

Objectives: Want to reach objectives, want control, enjoy challenge and competition, initiate change, enjoy taking risk, prefer diversified tasks and activities Basic fear: being taken advantage of, losing control, being conquered. Basic need: Independency. Basic question: What? Motivation: being in charge; performance; controlling others, fighting to survive; being successful; opportunities for promotion, new opportunities and challenges. Influence (talkative and open)
Objectives: To build positive relationships; want to have fun when working, express their thoughts and feelings, strive for appreciation. Basic fear: Rejection, loss of status, being accused. Basic need: To be accepted. Basic question: Who? Motivation: To have fun; understand other people’s feelings; mix socially with others; to keep moving; be free from detailed work and control; have the opportunity to make suggestions plus opportunities to teach and advise others; enjoy public recognition of their abilities. Steadiness (reliable and co-operative)
Objectives: To achieve results with others Want where everybody contributes. Wants harmony, stability and security. Motivation: To express sincere feelings but reject what is contrary to their ideas; well-planned, well-ordered procedures. Honest, sincere appreciation, absence of conflict, fixed clearly defined tasks. Recognition for completed tasks. This is just to make sure people know what it means to have this profile. Motivation: To treat others honestly; to improve the world; to justify their ideas; to eliminate errors. Precise performance guidelines, accuracy and order, high standard, enough time to fulfill tasks, the opportunity for objective criticism. Advance preparation for changes. Mediating Working with computers Search for five items (we would like to keep it simple in this session) you feel most attached to, out of both lists (called: “Talent Assessment”). Use the hand-out that the participants receive! Explanation: Let’s start with talents. Throughout the past thirty-five years, Dr Arthur Miller and Dr Richard Bolks have done extensive research on the so called “core talents” that a person has from birth. They discovered that everyone has about ten of these “core talents”. If I use my core talents, they distinguish themselves by highly motivating me intrinsically (from the inside). For example, one of my core talents is “to develop concepts”. If I have been able to work on a concept for three hours, I feel fully charged. I am energised because for three hours I was constantly and intrinsically able to use one of my “core talents”. You can imagine what happens if I am able to organize my work in such a way that I can use my unique core talents for 50 percent of my time. I will be constantly positively charged, I will go to work with great joy and I will still be fit as I go home in the evening. A burn-out would never happen. It is easy to see how immediately valuable it is to discover your own set of core talents. In a following scheme you will find a summary of forty-eight basic talents that belong to A. Miller and R. Although talents describe “what I can do well”, personality strengths describe “how I work most optimally”. The well-known DISC personality profile, created by Persolog and Professor John Geier, offers a simple and professional tool to define both your personality strengths and your place of motivation. By means of the DISC test ( you are able to discover about ten unique personality strengths and ten unique motivating circumstances. In the following scheme you will find a summary.
