3. In the beginning…. Sociology is one of the YOUNGEST social sciences.

Auguste Comte – Coined the phrase sociology.

Positive… doesn’t necessarily mean “POSTIVE”
There is no optimism, pessimism just positive
So what do you think positive means?

5. According to Comte Positive means positive about knowing!

9. 2nd Stage Metaphysical Stage
An Abstract power guiding the world according to some fixed principles
People scientific in mindset but also believe in a higher power

The scientific and religious world views coexist to make sense of the world

11. Positive Stage (Final Stage)
Someone looks at things EXCLUSIVELY through scientific method nothing else.
Things may not always make sense and that is ok and is truth.

Theory of Relativity relates nothing to religion

The positive is a stage of PURE scientific thinking and nothing else.
