What is the DLM? The Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Alternate Assessment program is designed to measure what students with significant cognitive disabilities know and can do. Colorado is a member of the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) alternate assessment consortium. DLM is a multiple-state consortium that is developing a computer-delivered alternate assessment. The DLM assessment program is designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities for whom, the general education assessments, even with accommodations, are not appropriate.

DLM Testing Components
KITE™ Test Delivery Engine (TDE) – AKA KITE Client Local Caching Server Educator Portal
6
Network Preparation The KITE ™ test engine utilizes a CDN for content distribution. The IP range is available to assist with content filtering configuration. Internet firewalls, content filters, or spam filters must be configured to allow pass through to tde.cete.us. Consider whitelisting or setting spam-filter control of the state or district system to allow messages from accounts. Allow staff the capability to retrieve videos from YouTube or Dropbox for professional Development.
7
Local Caching Server A Local Caching Server (LCS) allows your computer to act as a dedicated network server, in this case for KITE™ testing, which gives students and staff local access to KITE content. By using temporary storage, or a cache, the server is able to access data more quickly while reducing demand on the KITE servers. The LCS software will allow for 750 concurrent connections at the minimum recommended configuration. Each device that will be used for testing must be configured to use the LCS.
8
KITE Client – Bandwidth Requirements
LCS Number of Students Minimum megabits per second Recommended Without a LCS 1 3 mbps (about 384 kilobytes per second) 5 mbps (about 512 kilobytes per second) With a LCS Any 1 mbps (about 125 kilobytes per second) The Proctor Caching Machine must have fixed IP address.
