2 About AirPrint With AirPrint, it's easy to deliver full quality photo and document printing from your iOS and OS X apps. AirPrint is built into most popular printer models. AirPrint features include easy discovery, automatic media selection, and enterprise-class finishing options. Just select an AirPrint printer on your local network to print from your favorite iOS or OS X app. To use your AirPrint printer with Wi-Fi, the printer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device or Mac, either through bridging, or a direct connection to your Wi-Fi network.

3 Mac Device Systems If you are on a Mac Device using iOS, follow the instructions from slides 4-6. If you are using a device using OS X follow the instructions on slides 7-13.

4 Using AirPrint with iOS
You can print from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to an AirPrint-enabled printer. Your iOS device can print wirelessly to an AirPrint-enabled printer. You can print from any app that offers this feature, including third-party apps. To use AirPrint on your iOS device, follow these instructions:

6 Print Summary You can view or cancel printing in the Print Summary. To see the Print Summary, double-click the Home button and swipe left. The Print Summary is available only when printing.

7 Using AirPrint with OS X
Choose the destination printer from the Printer pop- up menu. If you don't see your printer, choose Add Printer from this menu. Choose the printer presets to apply to the print job from the Presets menu. Presets are pre-configured combinations of printer feature options. Enter the number of copies the printer should output in the Copies field.

8 Using AirPrint with OS X (continued)
Select which pages you want to print using the Pages field, including printing a single page, all pages, or a specific range. The print sheet also includes a preview of the print job if the app supports it. Use the arrows under the preview to review each page of the print job before it prints. Click the Help button (?) in the lower left corner of the print sheet to see more information about printing.

9 Using AirPrint with OS X (continued)
Use the PDF button to create a PDF of your printout instead of a physical print. Click and hold the button to see a menu of additional options. For more information about using the PDF feature, see the "Generate PDF output" section of this article. Clicking cancel takes you back out of the print sheet without printing. Click Print to accept your current print settings, and to send your document to the printer. Once clicked, your print job appears in the printer's queue.

10 Using AirPrint with OS X (continued)
Clicking the Show Details button gives you additional control of how your printout is handled.

11 Using AirPrint with OS X (continued)
In addition to the details shown in the standard print sheet, the Details sheet gives you these options: Choose the Paper Size menu to match the size of your printed output to match the paper in your printer. You can create and manage custom paper sizes here as well. Use the Save Preset option in the Presets menu to save your current settings so that you can easily apply them to future print jobs. Clicking Hide Details returns the print sheet to its shorter, standard view.

Tip: Your images don't need to be any larger than 360 dots per inch (dpi). Trying to print images greater than this resolution takes longer to print and uses more space on your startup drive, without any discernible change in print quality. See this article for more information.

14 If You’re Unable to Print
Check these things if you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found.“ Make sure your printer has paper, and enough ink or toner installed. 2. Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device. 3. Make sure your printer has power and is turned on. Try turning your printer off and then back on again to see if it resolves your issue.

15 If You’re Unable to Print (continued)
4. Check to see if your printer has any error lights or indicators displayed on the printer's control panel. Check the documentation that came with your printer to clear any errors displayed. 5. Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer.

16 If You’re Unable to Print (continued)
6. Check your printer's documentation or contact the printer vendor for more information. A firmware update may be available, even if you just bought your printer.

17 For Best Results - Make sure your software is up to date. For iOS, verify that your device is using the latest version of iOS available and that the app you're printing from is up to date.  - For OS X, Use Software Update to update OS X and apps you've purchased from the Mac App Store. - AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of an Apple AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule are not supported with AirPrint. Connect your AirPrint printer to your network using Wi-Fi, or connect it to a LAN port on your AirPort device using Ethernet. - Make sure that your AirPrint printer is connected to your network before attempting to print. Some AirPrint printers can take several minutes to join a network after being turned on.
