Homework Extends learning opportunities beyond the school day. Numerous studies indicate homework produces beneficial results for students Second graders should be reading at least 20 minutes per school night. Parent involvement should be kept to a minimum but occasional assistance is helpful. It is best to guide your child through questioning. If your child misses a day of school they will have an additional day to complete homework if needed. Please let us know if your child is having regular difficulty completing homework on his/her own. ***Please always remember to sign their behavior AND reading calendar on a daily basis. Homework is sent home the first day of the week and is due the last day of the week.

Reminders Volunteers are appreciated. We always need help!!
To volunteer for parties and field trips, you must reregister EVERY YEAR online with the district and pass a background check. This is for the comfort and safety of everyone. Please remember to use the PRO Center or the PTA work room instead of the teacher’s lounge or classroom to prepare materials, stuff Thursday folders, etc. Please drop children off at the Hug Zone. Second graders are learning to be independent. All transportation changes need to be reported through the office before the end of the day. s and messages may not be received in time. Reminders Helpful hints to make the year run smoothly-
Daily folders need to be signed and returned EVERY day. Thursday folders should be looked over and returned empty on Friday. School begins promptly at 7:45 AM. Students who are not in the room ready to learn at that time are counted tardy. Please send a healthy snack for your child. They are very hungry before lunch. Examples: grapes, bananas, crackers, carrots, low-sugar granola bars, etc. Cookies, chips, candy, gogurts, and donuts are not allowed for snack. Nothing that requires a spoon is allowed either. Water is the only beverage allowed in the classroom. Helpful hints to make the year run smoothly-

Birthdays! This is how we address birthdays in school.
Birthday treats are passed out at the end of the day, please make sure they are all the same flavor. If you are sending invitations out, it needs to be to the whole class. Please leave the envelopes blank and make a few extras. Birthday invitations will be sent home on Thursdays with their folders. If you choose to invite only a few kids, please pass invitations out after or before school hours. This is how we address birthdays in school.
