Oracle Database 11g Value Proposition
Easiest to Manage Highest Quality of Service Highest Performance and Scalability Fault Tolerant Most Secure Best Information Lowest Cost Lowest Risk of Change

Oracle Database 11g - Performance
Database Resident Connection Pool Java Just-In-Time Compiler Query Result Caching Client Side Caching Up to 20 x connections Up to 11 x Faster Up to 25% Faster Up to 22% Faster RAC Performance Enhancements Oracle Secure Backup Oracle Streams Enhancements Optimizer Stats Collection As with every release of Oracle Database, customers can anticipate faster performance across the board and Oracle Database 11g is no exception. The RAC cache fusion protocol has been optimized to deliver even better performance for many common usage scenarios such as access to read mostly data, long running queries, and access to LOB datatypes stored as SecureFiles Result caches greatly speed the repeated execution of queries and function calls that access read-only or read-mostly data. The new server result cache stores the results of queries, query blocks, or PL/SQL function calls for immediate transparent reuse by all users. The new client-side query cache eliminates round trips to the server by storing query results for immediate reuse by users sharing the same client application server. Other performance improvements include automatic compilation for PL/SQL and Java in the database, faster triggers (including more efficient invocations of per row triggers), faster simple SQL operations, faster and faster Streams replication. Up to 70% Faster Up to 25% Faster Up to 2 x Faster Up to 10 x Faster

Oracle Secure Files Breaking the Performance Barrier…
Read Performance Write Performance Mb/Sec Mb/Sec Secure Files Linux Files Secure Files Linux Files Underneath all these advanced data types in Oracle Database 11g is new SecureFiles LOB storage that offers file system like performance as well as compression and de-duplication techniques, allowing all organizations to easily integrate unstructured data in a fast, secure and reliable manner. Now organizations, can use their database to security protect their unstructured data, and be able to offer read and write performance that’s faster than file system. File Size (Mb) File Size (Mb)

New in Oracle Database 11g Extended XML Support with Binary XML
XML - Binary XML - LOB XML - Object Relational Unstructured Structured Flexible Performant Schema-less Schema-based Up to 15X over XML LOBs XML makes it easy to share data, and with emerging industry standards encouraging XML data interchange (including XBRL - financial reporting, GJXML - Global Justice, HL-7 - Health Level 7); the volume of XML data across all organizations will continue to grow. Therefore it makes sound economic sense to use the same repository and server to store and manipulate XML alongside relational data. XML data represents a source of business information and must be secured, protected, and accessible in a fast, secure, reliable and scalable platform. In addition to LOB and Object Relational XML data types, Oracle Database 11g introduces new binary XML data type. Customer are experiencing significant optimizations(up to 10-15%) of XML operations independent of whether or not an XML schema is available.
