WHAT IS PMES? PRE-MEMBERSHIP EDUCATION SEMINAR WHY ATTEND PMES? Because it’s a pre-requisite to become a Coop Member Because through PMES, you as an applicant will understand what coop is, it’s principles and values, and the duties and responsibilities of being a member

A COOPERATIVE IS … Autonomous association of persons
United VOLUNTARILY To meet their common economic, social and cultural needs Through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise

PURPOSE OF A COOPERATIVE
Encourage thrift and savings mobilization among the members Generate funds and extend credit to the members Provide goods and services

MEMBER-BASED MEMBER-OWNED MEMBER-FRIENDLY MEMBER-CO-OPERATION
“In Short, MEMBERS are the key to the SUCCESS or FAILURE of the Cooperative” Thus, No one shall be considered as Member without undergoing PMES to protect this identity.

Unique Identity of a Coop
It is both an association of people and a business enterprise. Members come together to achieve a common goal That common goal is to help them acquire a product or service to satisfy an economic need. To achieve these goals, they go into business themselves

WHEN DOES COOPERATIVE FAILS
When Member have no Real OWNERSHIP WHEN DOES COOPERATIVE FAILS When they see themselves as CLIENTS to be served ONLY When Members feel disinterested or feel alienated When Members seeks for their OWN interest, not for the over-all membership

Democratic Member Centre
Cooperatives are democratic organization, controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting their policies and making decisions. Men and women serving as elect representatives are accountable to the membership. In primary cooperatives, members have equal voting rights (one member, one vote)

In cooperatives, people help each other while helping themselves by working together for mutual benefit The Cooperative teaches that if you want to be helped, help yourself first. You can be of help to other Members directly or indirectly if you are a good member, not a coop liability

Individuals within cooperatives act responsibly and play a full part in the organization

In the Cooperative, everyone can participate and will be heard. For example during General Assembly, everybody can make suggestions or share ideas for the improvement of the cooperative.

2. DEMOCRATIC MEMBER CONTROL Democratic organizations controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions. In primary cooperatives, members have equal voting rights (one member, one vote).

3. MEMBERS’ ECONOMIC PARTICIPATION Members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of their cooperative. At least part of that capital is usually the common property of the cooperative.

4. AUTONOMY AND INDEPENDENCE Cooperatives are autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by their members. If they enter into agreements with other organizations, including governments, or raise capital from external sources, they do so on terms that ensure democratic control by their members and maintain cooperative autonomy.

5. EDUCATION, TRAINING & INFORMATION Cooperatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, & employees so that they can contribute effectively to the development or their cooperatives. They inform the general public, particularly young people & opinion leaders, about the nature and benefits of cooperation.

6. COOPERATION AMONG COOPERATIVES Cooperatives serve their members most effectively & strengthen the cooperative movement by working together through local, national, regional & international structures.

LABO PROGRESSIVE MPC Labo Progressive Multi-Purpose Cooperative known as “LPMPC” started as an informal group of individuals from the public market of the town of Labo, Camarines Norte on September 11, It was organized by Mrs. Nelly Jariel as “Paluwagan” with initial 15 incorporators and lending capital of Php5, It was confirmed by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in As of March 2017, it has 9,323 members operating in the twelve (12) municipalities of Camarines Norte with existing branches and Satellite offices in Daet, Labo, Panganiban and Capalonga. It offers multi-sectoral services to members such as Financing and Non-Financing Programs, Deposit Services and Life and Insurance.
