Lymphatic System Lymph vessels Lymph (The fluid within the vessels)
Lymph Tissue Lymphatic Organs- Produce immune cells Lymph nodes Thymus Tonsils Bone Marrow

Two Collecting Ducts Right Lymphatic Duct Left Lymphatic Duct
Drains upper right quadrant into the right subclavian vein Left Lymphatic Duct Drains rest of body into left subclavian vein
9
Patches of lymphatic tissue containing lymphocytes are located throughout the body
Where there are orifices, there are lymphocytes in the mucous linings Throughout other parts of the body, there are lymphatic nodules Such as the Peyer’s Patch in the small intestine
10
Primary Lymphatic Organs
Red Bone Marrow Thymus Provide a location for B and T lymphocytes to mature
11
Secondary Lymphatic organs
Tonsils Lymph nodes Spleen Contain mature T and B cells
13
Lymph nodes As lymph flows, it must pass through several lymph nodes
The fluid slows as it flows through these and pathogens, and other foreign material, are removed. Lymph nodes also serve as a final maturation site for some lymphocytes and monocytes.
