Eutrophication The Effects of Excess Nutrients on Aiptasia
Group 3 Ashley Keen Daniel Cristancho Daniel Diaz Kim Pearson Daniel Quiles
2
Our Experiment Each week we add .58g of Potassium Nitrate and measure the Nitrate levels. We monitor the growth and development of our aiptasia through measurements of zooxanthellae density, protein concentration and chlorophyll concentration.
3
Our Expectations We originally expected the excess nutrients to be used up by other algae in the tank, hindering the growth of the zooxanthellae and aiptasia However, since the tank contains no other forms of algae, all of the excess nutrients are being absorbed by the zooxanthellae and stimulating their growth.

Conclusions Thus Far The zooxanthellae density is consistently higher than the control group. The protein levels are consistently higher than the control group. The chlorophyll levels are consistently lower than the control group.
