4 Digestive System https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s06XzaKqELk

5 Tuesday 4/24 Learning Target: After science class I will be able to design a model for the digestive system based on the function of the organs in the system. Evidence: My plan (H-13) is filled out I am ready to build my model

6 Tuesday 4/24 Warm up: What are the 3 main functions of the digestive system? Agenda: Warm Up H-13 Trash Digestion Model WORK ON PLAN TODAY ALL OF H-13 SHOULD BE FILLED IN- TOMORROW YOU WILL BUILD

7 Sample Digestive System Projects

8 Sample Organs Reminder: you need to use 8 organs!! Pancreas Mouth
Rectum Appendix Anus Reminder: you need to use 8 organs!! Mouth Salivary Glands Esophagus Epiglottis Liver Stomach Gallbladder Small Intestine Large Intestine aka “colon”

9 Tips on planning: Draw what you and your group envision the model to look like on the back side of your paper and label the junk you will be using. Be SPECIFIC about who is bringing what for tomorrow and write it down in your planner. Be REALISTIC about what you are going to be able to bring and not bring in one day’s time. Hold your team accountable. Don’t let your friends down!

10 Ms. Hodge’s Tips on planning:
Draw what you envision the model to look like on the back side of your paper and label the junk you will be using. Be SPECIFIC about what you are bringing for tomorrow and write it down in your planner. Be REALISTIC about what you are going to be able to bring and not bring in one day’s time.

11 Wednesday 4/25 Learning Target: After science class I will be able to design a model for the digestive system based on the function of the organs in the system. Evidence: My model will be ready for the gallery walk tomorrow

12 Wednesday 4/25 Agenda: Warm Up H-13 Trash Digestion Model
Warm up: Pancreatitis is a disease of the pancreas. It becomes inflamed and doesn’t function properly. Make a prediction: What symptoms might a person experience who gets pancreatitis? (Hint: think of what the pancreas does.) Agenda: Warm Up H-13 Trash Digestion Model ENTIRE PROJECT (MODEL AND KEY H-13) IS DUE TOMORROW WHEN YOU WALK IN

13 Thursday 4/26 Learning Target: After science class I will be able to give helpful feedback to my peers about their projects and evaluate class projects in a gallery walk Evidence: As I walked around in the gallery walk I was respectful and gave feedback to my peers

14 Thursday 4/26 Warm up: Identify #8 in the picture.
What is the function of this organ? Hint: use P 61 and H-12 to help you. Agenda: Warm Up H-13 Trash Digestion Model Gallery Walk Video: Body Story CROSS OUT FRIDAY AND TURN IN YOUR WARM UPS and H- 13!!!

15 Make it nice and pretty for all of us to ohhhh and ahhhh over!
Display! 5 minutes ONLY Make it nice and pretty for all of us to ohhhh and ahhhh over!

16 Gallery Walk SILENTLY go view all the displays. Think to yourself… What do I like about this one? What would I change about this one? What is informative? What is confusing?

17 Critique Place a PURPLE piece by the model you think is most aesthetically pleasing. Be ready to backup your choice with reasoning and evidence Place a RED piece by the model you think is the most accurate for organ placement. This one will have organs in the correct places and labeled correctly. Place a GREEN piece by the model you this has the most information and helped you learn the best.

18 Thursday 4/26 Warm up: Identify #8 in the picture.
What is the function of this organ? Hint: use P 61 and H-12 to help you. Agenda: Warm Up H-13 Trash Digestion Model Gallery Walk BINGO CROSS OUT FRIDAY AND TURN IN YOUR WARM UPS!!! STILL FILL OUT THE BOTTOM SECTION!
