10. Dangers of clay
Clay dust can be worse for you then smoking.
It is important never to handle dry clay without a dust mask.
All students need to buy their own dust mask
Never sweep without a dust mask.
All tables must be wiped down with a wet rag after your class.
NO PROJECTS CAN BE SENT TO ISS. ANY CLASS MISSED DUE TO ISS OR OSS WILL NEED TO BE MADE UP AFTER SCHOOL. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!

Every student will get an empire which they will keep their work in.

13. Tile Project
Students first project will be to use the slab roller and come up with an interesting tile design.
Things to think about before sketching
How will this be interesting to my viewer?
Will I have pieces that come off from the flat tiles?
Will they be repeating shapes
Will I use organic or geometric shapes?

15. Grading Included at least 3 tiles are go well together with a theme
Tiles are well made and have good craftsmanship ( smoothed, no buggers, no cracks, including slip and score)
Interesting to the viewer.
Fit together in some fashion.

16. Formative Assessment Sketchbook
You must have a sketch completed with your idea for this project before starting with clay.
In ceramics you must draw each project from the 3 different view points. (Top, Side, Bottom)
This will be graded before you will receive clay.
I will help you get your sketch to a point where you can produce your idea in clay.

17. Slipping and Scoring
Your projects will fall apart if they are not slipped and scored!
