15 Subordinate Clause Remember: an independent clause has a subject and a predicate and can stand alone A subordinate clause is a group of words that has a subject and a predicate but does not express a complete thought Cannot stand alone

16 Subordinate Clause A subordinate clause is always combined with an independent clause in a sentence You can combine subordinate clauses with independent clauses by using a comma and a conjunction, a semicolon, or a semicolon and a conjunctive adverb Independent Clause Connector Subordinate Clause Complex Sentence
