Presentation on theme: "We will also explore the differences between animal and plant cells."— Presentation transcript:

1 We will also explore the differences between animal and plant cells.
We will be defining the organelles and using these two pictures to see how they might look in a cell. These pictures are the last two pages of your note packet. 1 We will also explore the differences between animal and plant cells.

2 Lets find out who these organelles are…

3 3 Nucleus 3 parts: Nuclear Envelope: This separates the nucleus from the rest of the cell. Sort of like the security force at the White House. The largest, central part of the cell. This is where the genes (DNA) are found. This is the central government of the cell. It is found in both Animal & Plant cells. Nucleolus: In charge of creating Ribosomes, which make proteins. This would be sort of like Congress. Chromatin: loose “soupy” DNA material. This is where all bodily information is stored.

6 Gooey, gel-like fluid that fills both Plant & Animal cells.
Cytoplasm Gooey, gel-like fluid that fills both Plant & Animal cells. There is no line pointing to cytoplasm in the animal or plant cell pictures.

7 Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER):
1 Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): a labyrinth of tubes within the cell through which materials can be moved. It is found in both Animal & Plant cells. (Highways) Some sections of ER are called SMOOTH ER other sections are called ROUGH ER, depending if it is covered in ribosomes or not.

8 Rough ER Smooth ER

9 Rough ER Smooth ER

10 Ribosomes 1 These create all of the body’s proteins (building blocks of everything). They are found in both Animal & Plant cells.

11 Ribosomes

12 Ribosomes
