2 DUN LAOGHAIRE                HISTORY   Originally Kingstown, founded by King Laoghaire as naval base located 12 km south of Dublin. King Laoghaire allowed S. Patrick pilgrimage to Ireland                      INTERESTING SITES -The port is one of the main in the country and presents the navy with its ships(500),it allows to connect with the port of Holyhead.  -The harbour has two large granite piers and the area is very popular for windsurf lovers -National Maritime Museum of Ireland - James Joyce Tower,near Dun Laoghaire, Martello tower in which Joyce lived for few days     

3 James Joyce Tower  James Joyce Tower is a Martello tower where he spent six nights in 1904 to write one of his novel, Ulysses. Today the tower shows some of his possessions and novels. The setting is that of 1904 and as a result it is a place of pilgrimage for his passionate followers.

4 Dalkey Dalkey's main street, Castle street, has two 14th century castles, one of them, Goat's Castle, houses the local Heritage Centre. Dalkey Railway Station was opened in 1894 and it is still running today! Another beautiful spot is Dalkey Hill from where you can see  Dublin Bay

5 Dalkey Island  This Island is an important site of ancient and historical remains and it was also used as a Viking base. A number of early Medieval pieces of pottery and glassware were found on the island. It was an important site of pilgrimage in the Medieval period as evidenced by the prominence of the island on early maps. One such, Danti's map of 'Isole Britaniche' is painted on the wall of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. 

6 KILLINEY-CILL INION LEININ
Killiney is an affluent suburb under Dalkey It is named after the construction of Church of the Daughters of Leinin During 20th century it grew up as a residential area where Dubliners come to for the long beach In Killiney there is a Park named after Queen Victoria and a Hobelisk in the Killiney hill in honor of the 1941 famine.

7           BRAY With 30'000 people Bray is one of the most populated seaside suburbs near Dublin. The center of Bray gives home to many industries other than having houses for many of the commuters headed to Dublin. It is believed that Oliver Cromwell stayed in Bray on his way to Wexford. Starting as a small village,in the 18th century Bray became home for middle-classes that were moving from Dublin
