Introduction Founded in 1991 by Arup, Swarup Ghosh on a terrace in Kolkata with 17 children Projects in 3 states - West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand 12 active projects 8000 children participate per year

CEEP (Community Education and Empowerment Program)
Education and awareness program for adolescents and parents Objective is to develop peer educators within the community to make it self sustaining Focus on personal hygiene pubertal changes, gender discrimination early marriage and pregnancy Contraception, STD’s As with most TF programs, school education is a part of CEEP and its aims to mainstream drop-out kids in the 8-14 year range via Bridge Courses 8 regions across Kolkata & Chattisgarh ~180 Children mainstreamed ~ 1200 people impacted in 5 yrs

Model School 104 students Continuation rate 90% 11 schools will adopt
Objective is to improve student retention and hence increase rate of completion of primary education Uses activity based learning developed by TF staff Prototyped in the Mother Project and proven in a Govt school that had closed down due to lack of attendance 104 students Continuation rate 90% 11 schools will adopt

completed B.Tech and employed at Control n Technologies in Kolkata Somnath Sen Laboni Patra completed graduation and employed as Private Tutor and Dance Instructor Sunil Mondal Subrata Dutta Mongal Halder completed hotel mgmt training at Taj Bengal and began working there Sonia Baniya Rupsha Shaw Received bicycle from Govt of West Bengal as appreciation of academic performance in V grade Extra-Curricular A team of 8 won the boys group dance competition at La Martiniere Growth Chariabeti expanded operations in Garden Reach for YWD. 6/9 youth placed in reputed companies.

Project Diganta 11 schools 3 years Target Retention - 75% Pass - 75%
Project Diganta is the latest undertaking by TF Kolkata Municipal Corporation has agreed to adopt TF teaching methodology in 11 govt. schools following the success of Model School Diganta’s objectives are : To train KMC teachers in the Activity Based Learning developed by TF Spread awareness in communities to increase enrollment Monitor increase in enrolment and continuation of education beyond V grade. To meet well defined, quantifiable targets (specified in the concept note) in the next 3 years Target Retention - 75% Pass - 75% 11 schools 3 years

Why support TF? Founding and operating philosophy align with ASHA’s objective Projects address not only the obvious problem of lack of education, but also delve into the causes for a more effective and long lasting impact Project Diganta is a segway into self sustainability of the Activity Based Learning (ABL) approach. It is the culmination of several years of lessons learned that has begun to bear fruit now If it succeeds in the next 3 years, it will be the flagship of an effective paradigm of education in government schools
