Fall LT Parent Meeting Thanks for Coming! Thanks for Supporting your Child in pursuing football Informational meeting to provide you with general info related to season

Coach Thelen 2016 season is my 30th as a high school coach – 24th as a head coach, but my first at Legend 5 teams have qualified for semi-finals in 21 seasons as a coach in Colorado. Only 1 appearance in state championship, 2012. How our football program operates now will be different from previous years. Originally from Helena, Montana, I have coached in WA & OR prior to moving to Colorado in 1995.

Program Objectives/Expectations
Have Fun! Grow as Young Men! Win, contend for League Championship Qualify for State Playoffs Advance in State Playoffs Play Win State Championship! Create Opportunities for Players post High School: GPAs & Test Scores very important!
4
EVERYTHING COUNTS! Student/Athletes can & should be working right now for the 2016 Season: “Little Things” added together become “Big Things” Strength & speed development is crucial for all! Student/Athletes who do ordinary things extraordinarily well stand out: Academic work, staying out of trouble, attend team activities, work hard, be positive, commit to a cause larger than your own
5
EVERYTHING COUNTS! Some Rise / Fall Players: Evaluated Daily Academics
Behavior Practice/Workout Expectations Trust !! Major Factor Good Teammate – add to the team, don’t subtract from team Be part of a cause larger than your own Senior class – very small # of senior players. Many of these seniors & others will be asked to take leadership roles. Opportunities are present for under classmen Competition will exists throughout fall

Football Program not Team
Balanced Roster: Constantly Building Depth We want classes spread out over entire units on the two deep roster. Soph. & Jr. challenging Seniors for playing time at every position group. DBs, OL, LB, Rb etc… Playing at a high level in lower level games, typically is the way to earn greater opportunities. Building depth, competition at each position group is a major focus. 45 – 50 players dress for varsity games, # changes during year.
7
Team’s small number of seniors means more juniors & soph to play
We are not afraid to start Sophomores! Three Soph. started games in 2015 Five Soph. started games in 2014 One Soph. started games in 2013. Two Soph. started games in 2012. Five Soph. started games in 2011. As many as 6 Sophomores will start in 2016 opener. Opportunities will be presented to many other Jr & Soph. as the season progresses.

6-10 Scholarships the Norm
8 student/ athletes have signed D1 scholarships in history of school. 11 student/athletes have signed D1-AA scholarships Dozens have signed DII, DIII or NAIA scholarships which paid % of the college educations costs. Test Scores, GPAs CORE class grades vital! Multiple ACTs recommended & ACT class

Coach & Parent Objectives are the same – No Problem!
Problems can occur when Parent/Player Objective becomes: 1) college scholarship 2) featured role on the team 3) specific position/role on team LT Football is a cause bigger than any one person, family or team member Coach Thelen will decide who plays, who plays what position, & who gets the ball Parents will play no role in that decision making process Players are encouraged to seek out their position coaches to get questions or concerns answers. They then can approach me to discuss anything related to their situation. After those two interactions, parents are welcomed to or call me to discuss any concerns related to their child.
