2 Francisco was a nobleman and a commander of hundreds of Spanish Conquistadors, who came to America in 1540 in search of wealth and fame.

3 Coronado had a rich wife who, along with the governor of Mexico, paid for the trip.

4 A priest had told Coronado about the Seven Cities of gold
A priest had told Coronado about the Seven Cities of gold. He then went there in search of gold and riches.

5 There, he failed to find any gold, only American Indians, the Grand Canyon, and the Rio Grand Valley.

6 An Indian slave told Coronado about a land “where boats with golden eagles sailed past tress with golden bells.” He found no gold there and then killed the slave.

7 Francisco Vasquez de Coronado sailed back to Spain 2 years later
Francisco Vasquez de Coronado sailed back to Spain 2 years later. Many felt he was a bad leader because of his mistreatment to the America Indians.

8 The only people that thought this mission was a success were the Spanish priests because he had spread Christianity.
