4. Why was it so dangerous to get sick?
This may seem crazy but these were actual cures for illnesses in the 17th century! May give you some ideas why it was best not to get sick!
Irene is very sick! She is coughing and spluttering everywhere! Quick Louisa, give her the well known cure of asses’ milk mixed with herbs! But wait …. Now David is sick! Quick Jose cut his tongue and let it bleed the illness out! Oh nooo not Raul too! Quick Manuel! Put some leeches on his skin to suck out the blood! Oh stop now! Not Ana too! Think up some other remedies to cure her!
But there are many more reasons why many people died!
Task: Imagine you are a doctor in the 17th century! You are going to produce a leaflet / poster all about the dangers of becoming ill! Use textbook page 67!
