TAIZE: IN THE BEGINNING…
Founded in 1940 by Brother Roger. Brother Roger started the village as a place of security and refuge for people during the Second World War. After the war had ended Taize was used to look after children who had lost their parents. Nowadays over 100 people live at Taize.

TAIZE NOWADAYS… Young adults attend Taize in great numbers especially during Easter and the summer. Each year tens of thousands of young pilgrims flock to the small village of Taizé in central France to share in the community's way of life. Prayer and silence are at the heart of the Taizé experience. Young people from every corner of the globe are encouraged to live out the Christian gospel in a spirit of joy, simplicity and reconciliation. Taize is an Ecumenical community which means that it promotes Christian unity among churches.
