Apps and Games Developer Brings Challenging Puzzle Experience to Windows Phones and PCs Partner Logo “Porting our games to the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) helped us accomplish much faster development cycles. This is especially important for our rapid-prototyping phases, in order to test new game ideas in a very short time.” – Christian Herzog, co-founder, Modern Alchemists OG SITUATION Modern Alchemists likes to use the concept of rapid prototyping because in the early stage of game design it is often helpful to see what a game will “feel” like on actual devices (whether it’s a phone or PC). The company used to have separate build processes for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Desktop, meaning even small changes increased maintenance effort by a factor of two or more. WINDOWS ISV: Modern Alchemists OG WEB SITE: LOCATION: Linz, Austria ORG SIZE: 3 employees WINDOWS ISV PROFILE: Modern Alchemists is committed to developing high-quality apps and games for mobile and desktop environments. “Vibes” is one of the latest, highly addictive games for the Universal Windows Platform. Come join the fun by solving mind-blowing puzzles or simply enjoy the relaxing ambient music. SOLUTION Bringing the game “Vibes” to the Universal Windows Platform helps Modern Alchemists reduce the amount of time needed for one development cycle and thus freed up time to refine the actual game design. It heavily uses Visual Studio Tools for Unity for debugging code inside Unity and the great performance reporting UI, when locally connecting a Windows Mobile device via USB with Microsoft Edge on a development PC. Also, the new Windows Dev Center allows faster updates to the apps, resulting in more frequent updates. Replace with Application Image BENEFITS Excellent development tools supported by Azure allow customers to spend more time iterating game designs. The provided cross-platform API on the Universal Windows Platform works great on mobile devices and desktops.
