Crude oil comprises various combinations of hydrocarbons, and environmental pollution caused by petroleum is considered a serious problem, especially taking into account poorly developed bioremediation techniques for hydrocarbon-contaminated sites.
Studies show that naturally occurring bacteria are more effective for hydrocarbon degradation compared to man-made microorganisms.
