Mrs. Hastings 10 Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy 2016-2017
English 10 Mrs. Hastings Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy * ALL assignments must be completed to a level of proficiency and turned in on time. * Each step of an assignment should be completed in full in order to receive full credit. Assignment grades will be reduced if the directions are not followed fully. * Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work as many assignments will be submitted through our Google Classroom. Complete assignments in a timely manner and/or utilize the THS library, which is open until 3:30 Monday through Friday, in order to complete assignments on time. * YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is your responsibility to retrieve and make up assignments missed due to absence in accordance with your student agenda guidelines. * You have one day to turn in any work assigned on a day you were absent. If a quiz or test was administered or major assignment was due on the date of the absence, that assignment must be made up or passed in upon your return. * Extenuating circumstances may be reviewed and considered on a case by case basis. Plagiarism Cheating The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating / plagiarism is suspected. The student will receive a zero for that particular test or assignment. The best way to avoid cheating is to complete assignments using your own thoughts and ideas. Plagiarism occurs when you use the ideas and words of someone else and pass them off as your own. Plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own. 2. copying work from a friend before class. (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off your own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. Technology Student Google Accounts will be used frequently in English Language Arts. The majority of class writing assignments and research projects will be completed and published digitally through our Google Classroom. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Google Classroom code: _______________ I agree to the terms and use of Google classroom for my student.
