COMPARATIVE We use comparative adjectives + than to compare two things, people etc. The mouse is smaller than the elephant. The elephant is bigger than the mouse.

How do we form it? ADJECTIVE COMPARATIVE RULE old cheap older cheaper
One-syllable adjectives: add -ER big hot bigger hotter Consonant + vowel + consonant: DOUBLE the consonant + -ER dry healthy drier healthier One- or two-syllable adjectives ending with Y: -IER famous expensive more famous more expensive Two- or more syllable adjectives: MORE + ADJECTIVE good bad far better worse further IRREGULAR

SUPERLATIVE We use the + superlative adjective to say which is the bigger, best, etc. in a group. After superlatives, we use IN (not OF) + places. I am the best teacher IN THE WORLD. The red apple is the biggest apple.
