There are 4 main components of Zero Suicide. 1) Screening 2) Collaborative Safety Plan 3) Treatment 4) Follow-up Contact If all 4 steps are followed the research shows suicide will be avoided. Many of these steps are implemented currently in VT. The Chittenden County Community Health Suicide Screening Team implements all four steps, as an example. DMH and VTSPC would like to see this approach implemented in itself entirety across the state. CAMS (The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality)  is shown to be very effective as a treatment tool and DMH would like to train clinicians to use this tool. Follow-up contact is not used enough and needs to be discussed how it can be implemented across VT.

We are just in the planning stages now.
