What is the Green Party? Founded in the United States in 2001, The Green Party of the United States was an evolution of the Association of State Green Parties. They first gained a bit of recognition during the election of 2000.The Green Party is one of the important minor parties. Being a minor party means that this party plays a smaller role than a major party in a country's politics and elections. There are currently 246,145 people in this party.

OFFICE HOLDERS Currently, there are 86 office holders in the United States under the Green Party. Their positions held are not very high. California and New York are the only states to have had a Green Party majority in their town councils. A school in California held the first Green Party majority school board, and no nominee of the Green Party has been elected to office in the federal government.

In Michigan, there is only one member of the Green Party with a position. Her name is Korie Blyveis and she is the Town Clerk of Newberg Township.

Green Party Description
The Green Party promotes nonviolence, social justice, participatory grassroots democracy, gender equality, LGBT rights , and are anti - war and Anti - racism. They also support environmentalism. VALUES The party members follow something called green politics. These are based on four pillars of the Green Party: Ecological wisdom, Social justice, Grassroots democracy and Nonviolence. History The political party called the Green party began at 1985, just as a decentralized Committee of Correspondence. But it then grew to a centralized organization in National bylaws and certain things are created to improve this party. Members in the party also strive in doing educational activities, and they also join the election. Some people in the party think political election is a kind of foul, while others think it would promptly develop and change the nation. It caused the creation of the compromise agreement, which advocated that both opinions should conclude in 527 political organizations. Finally, the political organization changed its name to “Green party”.

The Green Party’s stance on abortion includes: The offer of abortion services free to women at the poverty level. The Green Party unequivocally supports a woman's right to reproductive choice. The "morning-after" pill must be affordable and easily accessible without a prescription. Immigration 1.calls for permanent border
People from Mexico and Canada must have identification to be traced and verified to be passed. 2.undocumented immigrants have chance to become US citizens Immigrants should be granted a legal status that allow them to become US citizens with minimal processing fees . 3.don’t blame immigrants by economic and social problem We should respect the potential contributions and RIGHTS of our new immigrants. Pay particular attention to refugees. Make better relationship with Mexico.

VIEWS ON GUNS The Green party supports the ‘Brady Bill’ and thoughtfully, carefully considers GUN CONTROL. They would like to... Extend background checks to all private sales of firearms..Eliminate the gun show loophole that permits sale of weapons without background checks. Increase compensation for jurors and provide childcare for those serving jury duty. Protect victims' rights. Ensure the opportunity for victims to make victim-impact statements. Consider forms of restitution to victims.
