First Continental Congress
On September 5, 1774: Representatives from every colony except Georgia gathered in Philadelphia for the FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS The colonies would send a formal complaint to King George III.

“The British Are Coming!, The British Are Coming!”
On the night of April 18, 1775 about 700 British soldiers marched in the moonlight toward Lexington. Three Messengers—Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott rode on horseback by different routes.

Battle of Lexington The British reach Lexington, about 70 minutemen were waiting for them on the village green. Both were under orders not to shoot. “The shot heard round the world”, sparked the Battle of Lexington. Eight Minutemen died and another Ten were wounded.

Battle of Concord The British marched on to Concord. Three British Soldiers were killed. On the way back to Boston, hundreds of minutemen hidden behind farmhouses, stone fences, and barns fired at them, killing 73 soldiers and injuring an additional 174. THE SECOND CONTINENTAL CONGRESS IS CALLED: On June 14, 1775 they vote to have an army, and George Washington was voted its leader.

The Battle of Bunker Hill
BUNKER HILL: On June 17, 1775, one of the fiercest battles of the American Revolution. Americans secretly built a fort on “Breed’s Hill”. British ships shot cannons, and the redcoats charged up Breed’s Hill. 140 Americans were killed, and 200 British soldiers.

The Battle of Moores Creek Bridge
February 27,1776, The First battle of the American Revolution in North Carolina takes place. The PATRIOTS took planks off a bridge and greased its supporting logs with soap and animal fat. In a three minute battle, about 50 LOYALISTS were killed or wounded, while only one man died from the PATRIOTS. Called the “Lexington and Concord of the South”, this battle prevented the British from gaining control over the south.
