What does a school counselor do?
Greet and welcome students, go to team meetings, take and make phone calls, give presentations/lessons, crisis management, assist teachers and students, 11/21/2018

Why have School Counselors?
My job is to help all students feel happy, safe and connected at school so they can achieve academic and personal success. I am a helper to everyone in the school. 11/21/2018

Will the school counselor keep my secrets?
Your conversation will be kept confidential/private with these exceptions: 1. You are hurting yourself or someone else 2. You or someone else are at risk of being harmed 3. You agree to have me share information with others 11/21/2018

Won’t the kids think I am in trouble or there is something wrong with me? * You are not “crazy” to see a school counselor for help. I don’t do therapy. I am just here to support you and your learning. *I DON”T GIVE DETENTIONS, SUSPENSIONS. I AM NOT A PRINCIPAL. 11/21/2018

Will my parents/teachers/friends find out I went to see the counselor?
We decide together what you or I tell unless it is one of the 3 exceptions. Part of a group/club: your parents must sign a permission slip. 11/21/2018

How, when, and where do I see Mr. D?

Who: Mr. D Loves: SBES, family – my wife teaches at SBHS – all three sons attended SBES Lives with: wife, 2 boys, (oldest is in college) 20 +years in education, 6th at SBES BS degree from BYU, Masters degree from Campbell. 11/21/2018
