4 Appomattox Court House The two head generals were Ulysses S. Grant (Union) and Robert E. Lee (Confederates) met at Appomattox Court House to make decisions about surrendering.

5 Appomattox Court House Robert E. Lee thought it was his duty to end this Civil War after he decided that it was impossible to win.

6 Appomattox Court House Appomattox Court House was rebuilt during World War II, and is now a historical museum.
