Revere joined a group called the Sons of Liberty (Patriots). They believed that the colonies should be free from British rule. 1

Revere helped plan the Boston Tea Party where the colonists protested the tea tax by dumping British tea into the harbor.
Paul Revere started a new job as a mail carrier for the leaders of the colony. His job was important because he carried important letters.
In April 1775, Paul Revere rode his horse through the colony at night warning the colonists that the British were coming. This was important because the British soldiers were trying to sneak up on the Patriots.
The next morning there was a battle in Lexington that started the American Revolutionary War.
When the war ended the colonies had gained their independence and formed a new country: The United States of America!
