1 Partnership Framework 4 October 2017 V4

2 Introduction What is it and why do we have it?
Documentation and support Next steps Cover:

3 What is it? Mutual set of expectations
Replicates what you currently do Set of standards of service from HO Incorporates requirements due to legislation Reflection of Quality Street and HO structure Mutual set of expectations for Areas and HO, very clear, lots of support built in Replicates what you currently do – nothing in it that some area somewhere isn’t already doing, most areas already doing a very large proportion of it, no surprises from an area perspective in fact area volunteers already been involved in and had a say on development both as individuals and through the Eastern Conference in April Set of standards of service from HO – again, very clear, all been agreed with the relevant departments Incorporates requirements due to legislation eg data protection Reflection of Quality Street and HO structure Been pulled together at head office led by Karina and Andy Burdett over the last couple of years so its not been rushed because we want to get this right for everyone. It consists of a handbook detailing the expectations, excellent resource can be used as a checklist for Quality Street, I see it as a true handbook…..if I had a new committee starting from scratch I could hand it over to them and say there you go that’s what you need to do. Throughout there are references to key contacts and documents etc from document library and on the digital version they are live hyperlinks that take you straight to where you need to be. The other document is an agreement outlining Partnership Framework which is signed by the Area Chair and HO representative. What its not, in my opinion is bureaucratic or full of red tape a lot of care has been taken to keep it simple and create a supportive resource that ties everything together.

4 Why do we have it? Improve product and service to members
Improve support to volunteers Greater accountability Other organisations do it Volunteers asked for greater clarity Guidance and Assurance Clearer basis for working together What we need for members is a fair consistent service to members wherever they may be. The clarity in partnership framework will help drive that forward. The beauty of it is that its about the nuts and bolts of how you run your area n the same way that Quality Street is, it doesn’t take away the ability for you to deliver your activities based on your locality and what your member community wants, that flexibility sits with you so long as you offer a range of activity to give members ample opportunity to get the best out of their membership. The support aspect is great, its clearly laid out with full details of where to go for relevant documents or who to chat to about whatever aspect you’re looking at Quality Street started the journey into accountability and quality standards, I would now have this document with us during quality street to guide your action choices. For example if you decide you score a 3 say on volunteering, you can go down the expectations list for the area and pinpoint exactly what you need to do in order to improve. Likewise from a head office accountability issue you will be able to comeback to us if youre not experiencing the level of service laid out in the head office expectations and make representation about it Other organisations do it …. The National Trust have joint expectations for staff and volunteers on values and behaviours which are embedded in the organisation from the start as part of inductions and used as competancies after that point. It sets us out as being a professional fair transparent organisation which in turn gives assurance and confidence to our members Volunteers ask for greater clarity …. Always! Time is short we doint want volunteers wasting time making it up as they go along or going off on tangents, lets all be clear which direction were going in and reduce some frustrations and give a clearer basis for working together

6 What’s next? Undertake pilots with a selection of AAs
Review results from pilots Design to be finalised Roll out of Agreement and supporting documents and resources to AAs from Jan 2018 So whats next Pilots there are 4 areas selected, 2 eastern, 2 nw. Ive already conducted one at Peterborough last week. It went down extremely well, they were more than happy so we need to see what the others say. I have another next week and the two Northwest ones are also planned shortly. The results will then be reviewed and any changes deemed necessary will be made, the desihn finalised and I’ll be coming out to see you all from January to roll it out.

7 Any questions? In view of the fact we have Andy Shaw, Karina and Andy Burdett with us has anyone got ay burning questions on Partnership Framework to ask before we finish?
