Objectives
Arctic Design seeks to increase the wellbeing and economic competitiveness of arctic areas. Arctic Design combines art, design and research in order solve challenges in the sparsely populated areas. Understanding arctic environment, everyday life, internationality and indigenous cultures is in the core of Arctic Design.

Strengths
Product Design creates high-quality 3D models and prototypes that communicate strong design visions and can be developed to novel products. Service Design creates new service concepts, and improves the quality and variety of services in close collaboration with local, national and international industrial and public service providers. Interaction Design develops innovative and easy-to-use physical and digital user interfaces at the cross-section of design and technology. Applied Visual Arts combines art based methods, experience with arctic context, cultural background knowledge, and strong involvement of communities.

Highlight
Arctic Design Week is the world’s most northern design week, featuring a wide selection of modern and traditional design and art with Arctic flavor. ADW is organized annually in Rovaniemi, Finland. Arctic Design Week builds on strong collaboration between University of Lapland Faculty of Art and Design, creative industries, and city of Rovaniemi. It strengthens the multidisciplinary collaboration between industry and design, and provides international visibility to Arctic Design.
