In this case, it refers to the period where the US attempts to rebuild the South

President Lincoln and Vice President Andrew Johnson wanted to reunify the nation after the war

Lincoln’s Ten Percent Plan- only ten percent of each state had to take oath to the Union to be forgiven

Many Radical Republicans felt Lincoln was too lenient on the South Felt that the Confederacy committed a crime by leaving the union

13. Wade- Davis Bill
Wade-Davis Bill- required that a majority of a state must pledge allegiance to the union before being brought back into union

Compromise of Rutherford B. Hayes is made president and ends Reconstruction
