Opening Task: Find the direct quote from the abridged article below.
“Could you do 165 Push Ups?
Samantha Myers is 16 years old. She says, “eat clean, train mean.”This idea helped her win a contest. She did 165 pushups to set a world’s record. She played volleyball, basketball and softball when she was young. She plays on her high school’s swimming and soccer teams now.

3. What’s the difference between a direct and indirect quote?
A direct quotation represents a person’s exact words. These words are enclosed in quotation marks.
Example:
Then she asked me, “Immaculeta Uzoma Achilike, do you know what your name means?
An indirect quotation restates the general meaning of what a person said. Quotation marks are not used with indirect quotations.
Example: She asked whether, I knew what my name means.
