A Superior woman offered a candid twist to UMD’s Transgender Awareness Week Thursday night, when she spoke to packed Kirby Ballroom audience, drawing both warm laughter and stunned silence. Many young people who may not have understood the power of the vote were enlightened during this past election by a group on UMD’s campus. UMD hosted history Saturday afternoon, when seven women miners told their triumphant story about overcoming all odds in a sexual harassment class action lawsuit.

Students at UMD received a chance to voice their opinions in regard to on-campus parking before the chancellor-appointed committee on Wednesday, at the Kirby Lounge. A mother and daughter, along with a panel of two other women, spoke to a class on Nov. 8 about how adoption helped make their dream of a family become a reality. The student run Women’s Resource and Action Center at UMD provides programs and services to help women and men within UMD and the community.
