2 Welcome Families! Welcome to our classroom. Beginning with the End in Mind, my goals for Open House are: To help parents understand the work their child will be doing throughout the school year. To explain the expectations of your child. To share information about how you can support your childs learning.

3 A little information about me… I have 20 years teaching experience in grades K – 8; regular education and gifted education. I have children of my own (a 5 th & an 8 th grader) so I value the importance of family and wanting what is best for your child.

4 My Philosophy I believe all students can and will learn. I strive to meet the needs of all students.

13 Related Arts Technology – Mr. Mause Physical Education – Mr. Trzcinski Music – Ms. Layton Art – Mrs. McCall Guidance – Mrs. Kannanen Foreign Language – Chinese Mrs. Chang (fall) French in the Spring The Related Arts schedule will rotate this year. Students we given a schedule in their blue & white folder.

14 Homework Homework is seen as an extension of classroom learning. Students will have homework packet that will start in the next few weeks. I will come home on Fridays and be due on Thursdays. There will be places for parents to sign off, please look over your childs work with them! It will include: Homework – weekly assignment sheet - Reading Log –Study Island –Physical Activity –Vocabulary review & practice –Family Time and discussion

18 What do each of the habits mean? Habit 1: Be Proactive You are responsible for you. You have the power to make choices. Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind Develop a personal mission statement. Focus on where you want to go. Habit 3: Put First Things First Personal management Work then play Habit 4: Think Win- Win Finding a solution to a problem so it is beneficial to all involved
