Course Objective
For each student to learn the skills necessary to succeed at the next level of mathematics and to receive an introduction to
Pre-Algebra.
Course Requirements
Students are required to keep a math journal containing "weekly puzzlers" completed with explanations and any additional journal entries assigned. Students also are encouraged to have a folder for organizing handouts and homework assignments. The teacher will keep all tests and quizzes in the classroom filed in each student's portfolio. Students should be prepared with their book, journal, folder and pencil daily.
Course Grading
The final grade will be based on tests, quizzes, homework assignments, and class participation. During some quarters a class project will also be factored into the grade. There are no additional extra- credit points available other than bonus questions on some exams. Final grades are calculated using a points system:
