Understanding the test itself?
1. What kind of test is it? 2. Why is the test being given? 3. What type of items are on the test? 4. What will the grade be used for? 5. Who will get the results?

Strategy for Multiple Choice
1. To narrow the choices to two and then guess. 2. Eliminate all the answers that you know are definitely wrong.

When guessing, ask? Is the answer written in the same terms as the question? Does the response answer what the question is asking for? Is the response mentioned in the story? Does the response satisfy the key words in the question?

When using key words Identify the key words or phrases
Match the key words of phases to the answer choices Then select the correct answer

Quote Students need to be taught that test are just one tool in assessing their achievement or mastery of a subject. Test are to be respected, not feared.
