Last week my principal brought a new Syrian refugee into my class. I was informed that the boy had post-traumatic stress disorder due to witnessing his father’s kidnapping; the boy was also there when the militants returned the body, riddled with nails (teacher in MEd program, 2016).

Refugee Crises and Global Inclusion: Arts-based, Emergent Cultural Voices in a Canadian Classroom
In 2016, Canada accepted 39,000 refugees from Syria alone from Nov Feb (#Welcome Refugees, 2017). Issues of pre-immigration and resettlement may include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety for refugee students in Canadian schools (Lindencrona et al, 2008).
