1 Run16 Y. Akiba

2 RUN16 The last data-taking run of PHENIX 20 cryo weeks
10 weeks of 5 weeks of d+Au energy scan Starts the cooling-down on 1/19

3

4 RUN16: 10 week of GeV Complete the Heavy Flavor measurement with VTX/FVTX Approximately double the data set of RUN14 VTX was damaged by the beam accident in RUN15; It is now repaired and is ready to take data Trigger strategy? Luminosity profile? We may want to have flatter luminosity for a long time. At the beginning of a fill, the collision rate in the narrow vertex exceeds our DAQ bandwith (~7kHz)

5 RUN16: dAu Beam Energy Scan
PRL114 RUN14 3He+Au PRL115 RUN15 p+Au QM2015 Complete the study of QGP in small systems Investigate the Onset of perfect fluidity We requested 7 weeks of dAu for 4 energy points (200,62,39,20) in the BUP PAC recommended 5 to 7 weeks 20 week of RUN16  5 weeks for dAu Beam Energy Scan

6 RUN16: dAu Beam Energy Scan
Reduction to 5 weeks of data taking Thanks to the increase of the luminosity at low E, we can do all of 4 energy point in 5 weeks Efficiency at PHENIX side is required Denis presented our case in the Machine/Exp meeting

7 PHENIX status Time meeting
Calendar Denis’s slides in Time Meeting on 1/26 Watch shifts started 12 January subsystems initial setting up done, but still optimizing. Magnet ramped on, is OK, will stay off during AuAu setting up as requested UPS 15KV temporarily connected DAQ running will all subsystems in Full shifts started 26 January First (physics) collisions in PHENIX expected by Feb Ready for stable Beam KHz collisions for timing BBC ZDC and then all other subsystems Accesses can be welcome. Still optimizing. +Close east and west arms “<= Friday” 26/01/2016 PHENIX status Time meeting
