Solids Solids have their own shape. If you put an apple in a bowl, will it change shape? No! It has definite shape, definite mass, and definite volume.

Liquids Liquids take the shape of their container. If you put water in a cup, it takes the shape of the cup. Liquids do not have definite shape, but have definite mass and definite volume.

Gases Gases expand to take fill their container. Helium takes the shape of a balloon and air takes the shape of a room. Liquids do not have definite shape, mass or volume.
