1 Giving Thanks Psalm 100 Psalm 100 (READ)
God’s people always give Him thanks for His goodness, might, mercy and deliverance A Portion of David’s Psalm of Thanksgiving at the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Israel (1 Chronicles 16:7-9), “On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the Lord: 8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!” Thanksgiving should be a continuous state for Christians (Ephesians 5:20), “giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” Psalm 100

2 Thanksgiving Presupposes
Knowledge you have been blessed (1 Timothy 1:12-13) WHAT IS THANKSGIVING? “The Grateful Acknowledgment of Benefits Received.” Giving Thanks Presupposes: Knowledge that you have been blessed, (Paul had that knowledge) (1 Timothy 1:12-13), “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.”

3 Thanksgiving Presupposes
Knowledge you have been blessed (1 Timothy 1:12-13) Knowledge of the blessings received (Philippians 1:3) Giving Thanks Presupposes: Knowledge of and review of the blessings received (Philippians 1:3), “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you…” Paul remembered them When he remembered them, it caused him to be thankful (for their faithfulness and friendship)

4 Thanksgiving Presupposes
Knowledge you have been blessed (1 Timothy 1:12-13) Knowledge of the blessings received (Philippians 1:3) Knowledge of the source of the blessings (Daniel 4:30-33) Giving Thanks Presupposes: Knowledge of the source of the blessings (Nebuchadnezzar didn’t recognize this…) (Daniel 4:30-33), “The king spoke, saying, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?" 31 While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven: "King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! 32 And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses." 33 That very hour the the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws.”

5 When Must We Give Thanks?
Before the Blessing Comes (Hebrews 13:5-6) Before the Blessing Comes (Expectation) Hebrews 13:5-6, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?“ Because He promised, we have confidence He will provide.

6 When Must We Give Thanks?
Before the Blessing Comes (Hebrews 13:5-6) During the Blessing (Acts 28:15) During the Blessing (Reliance) Paul as example, grateful for the encouragement of his brethren (Acts 28:15), “And from there, when the brethren heard about us, they came to meet us as far as Appii Forum and Three Inns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.”

7 When Must We Give Thanks?
Before the Blessing Comes (Hebrews 13:5-6) During the Blessing (Acts 28:15) After the Blessing has been Received (Exodus 15:1) After the Blessing has been Received (Acknowledgment) Moses and People at the victory over Egyptians at the Red Sea (Exodus 15:1), “Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!”

8 Conclusion “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:15) Persist in Thanksgiving: With our whole being! (Colossians 2:6-7), “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
