WHAT TO DO WHEN THE PRESS IS NEAR
No need to be intense or to stare into the camera without blinking. When the media is talking with us they are looking for a heart-felt story. We are not some serious interview. They want to have the answers for Who, What, When, Where, Why Memorize some talking points. Students feel proud when they represent their school and they want to look good to their peers. For their sake, prepare your students.

Preparing for an Interview
Choose students that love to talk and are generally outgoing. Wear your school shirts, a USU shirt, or a GEAR UP shirt. Have the USU logo and a Gear UP sign or banner by you. Review the talking points that are provided in your book. Media release forms signed. Add to this as new students join the group. Rehearse with your students. Make it a lesson where they pretend they are a reporter. Who, What, When, Where, Why

Example Talking Points
OBJECTIVE To provide fun, exciting projects that help inspires students to learn math and engineering concepts while preparing them for a global workforce. To attend college and receive a degree. WE WILL DO THIS BY… Providing students with The Siemens 3D Solid Modeling software that introduces technology and design concepts used in industry around the world. Introducing an international hands-on experience such as the electric car project. The students will use the design concepts learned with the Siemens software and then build or design an electric car. Once racing the car, students will redesign for a faster, lighter car using the Siemens software.
