The definition of a stereotype The definition of character development The difference between a dynamic and static character Skills: Students will be able to… Identify stereotypes within a text and in the real-world Identify character development Identify similarities and differences between topics discussed in the film and their relevance to today’s society.

SO WHAT’S THE PLAN? The Unit Plan is designed for Year 10 English.
Has been taught with Year 11’s (and they loved it!) Emphasis on stereotypes and character development Did they break these stereotypes by the end of the film? Prior to film viewing several class discussions occurred: What are round/flat characters? Why is it important that characters develop? A worthwhile discussion on what is a stereotype? Are they always accurate or do we just assume? Are we stuck with a stereotype or can we break it? This discussion was really beneficial with students completing Literacies in Yr11

Write a 800 word essay on how one or two characters of your choice developed as the film progressed. It is recommended that you discuss any stereotypes that are associated with your character/s, how their relationship changed with the other characters, and what you think caused them to change.
