General Tool types Tools Relevant to capacity Utilities
Not relevant to capacity Beas makes a distinction between tools and utilities. While utilities are not relevant to capacity, tool resources and/or positions can be allocated and influence capacity planning and consequently the lead time of a production order. Definition is carried out via the tool type. 11/21/2018

General General: Management of general and capacity-relevant information Maintenance: Management of maintenance intervals, maintenance information, and meter readings Planning: It is specified here whether or not the tool can be planned using Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS). Costs: In addition to acquisition costs, maintenance costs and modification costs can be stored here. Bill of Materials: Other tools, utilities, or manual information can be entered in the bill of tools Attachments: Attachments are imported directly into the database (images, PDFs, etc.) Documents: Links to documents, on a network drive for instance, are managed here. 11/21/2018

Step by Step Header Detail
The tool master offers numerous setup options that can have various effects depending on the process. Therefore, only the most important parameters are explained here. When creating a new entry, you must decide whether it is a tool or a utility. For the tool to be created, a tool number and a description must be entered. To enable the tool to be used, it must be set to "Active". If the tool is relevant to capacity planning, the checkmark must be activated and a number of tools entered. Uses: Injection molding tools mostly have several nozzles (cavities, hollows), which means that several parts can be produced with one shot. In such cases, the number of nozzles (cavities, hollows), must be entered here. Defines lead time: If the job time is not governed by the resource (machine/person) but the tool, the checkmark must be activated here. In the injection molding example, the tool clamps together and goes back up after X amount of time. However, this machine can itself take various tools. The lead time for an order quantity is therefore dependent upon the tool and not the machine. Detail 11/21/2018
12
Step by Step If the tool is incorporated in routings, the receipt quantity is saved for each confirmation of a work order. Last maintenance: The date of the last maintenance work is entered here. If you then click the yellow arrow beside Maintenance counter status, all quantities recorded up to this date are displayed. 11/21/2018

Step by Step In addition to the creation of one-off acquisition costs and modification costs such as consumable materials for example, parameters can be recorded here that are fed into the calculation. This means that the purchase price can be determined, according to the production lot sizes, by means of the calculation, via a cost element that is stored in the calculation template – and thus distributed to individual production orders. The same can be defined separately for maintenance costs (see also calculation and cost elements). 11/21/2018
14
Order time receipt with tool selection
In tools activate switches "defines cycle time" and "selectable at time receipt“.
15
Order time receipt with tool selection
Tools to be selected are inserted below the operation sequence
16
Order time receipt with tool selection
If a selectable entry is found, which determines cycle time, in order time receipt the field „tool“ and the active tool are displayed. Now you can select the desired tool. It will be saved in time receipt.

Tool – release via blocked warehouse
Possibilities: Check, whether tool is available Reserve the tool for a specific operation Automatic transfer to a blocked warehouse in setup process and transfer back after operation has been finished
19
Tool – release via blocked warehouse
Prerequisite: operation „setup“. Therefore, in resource „extend to cost elements“ select at least „2“. Then, „setup“ can be registered seperately.
20
Tool – release via blocked warehouse
In configuration wizard a blocked warehouse is set up.
21
Tool – release via blocked warehouse
For the tool an item is created and assigned to the tool. Then the tool is posted into stock.
22
Tool – release via blocked warehouse
Logging on to the operation with the stored tool, the option „setup“ is displayed. With this option, the tool is transferred to the blocked warehouse. (These postings are not linked to the work order)
23
Tool – release via blocked warehouse
The item is posted in and charged-off automatically.
24
Tool – release via blocked warehouse
If the tool is no more used, after a visual check it can be posted back to the standard warehouse.
