Adverbial Phrase—modifies a verb
The man moved rather slowly, perhaps because of the cast on his foot. After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box. You couldn't park anywhere near the place.

Adjectival Phrase—modifies a noun
The door on the left is the one leading to the hallway. The beautifully carved frames are worth more than the painting. The curtains look far too long.

Absolute Phrase—a noun and its modifiers (attached to a sentence)
Their eyes glued to the television screen, the fans watched every moment of play. We devoured Aunt Lenora's carrot cake, our fingers scraping the leftover frosting off the plates. The children set off for school, faces glum, to begin the fall term.

The nearby motel offers cheap but comfortable rooms. He sings in a low register. People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
