Wet-Holes and Examples of Areas of Non-Arable Land at The Tillsonburg Airport
2
The Drainage Problems:
Forced us to try and combat the problem by planting a different crop than we had originally intended, as alfalfa would surely die in areas of high water. After spraying and spreading fertilizer, we were unable to plant different areas as they were too wet. Fertilizer was wasted. Unable to access different areas of land entirely, all season. Harvesting significantly delayed as we tried to wait for the land to dry.

AREAS OF NON-ARABLE ACRES
Example of many areas of wet spots (frozen ice ponds seen here) intertwined with arable acres. Only the wet spots were included as non-arable acres, although navigating arable acres to plant and harvest was difficult. Areas that were not accessible or able to be planted flowing into areas that could then not be harvested.

AREAS OF NON-ARABLE ACRES
Land still not even close to dry enough to work. Note depth of water. No crop has grown here. Another area of non-arable land that resembles a pond.
5
AREAS OF NON-ARABLE LAND
Already sparse area due to standing water, now flooded and cannot be harvested. The combine must work around this large area. Bean field. No crop grew here. Still water laden as seen by frozen pond.

DRAINAGE PROBLEMS IN SURROUNDING DITCHES
Water level almost to top of ditch. Not flowing. Blockages in the ditches, impeding water flow

PHOTO OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY EXCAVATOR
See the water coming up through the snow in the tracks of the ATV. Also, very little crop growing in this area, as it is commonly flooded. Unsure why driving through middle of the field. The beans that are laying down are crushed and fall from the pod, rot, are not picked up by the header.
