8. What is the US doing?
Remained neutral during the beginning of the war.
1941: Congress passes the Lend-Lease Act which allowed President Roosevelt to lend weapons, supplies, and equipment to any country whose defense was critical to US security.
US hoped to help the Allies win the war without sending in troops
Program gave over $50 billion in supplies

9. What is the US doing?
1941: US establishes bases on Greenland and Iceland to protect ships from German submarine attacks
Japan starts invading near by nations and starts looking at land in the US
Ration books are given to us families that can’t afford food

10. ATTACKS
Italy attacked North Africa Japan attacked the Pacific area of the USA (Honolulu, Hawaii)

11. The United States declares war the next day.
DECEMBER 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor receives a surprise attack conducted by the Japanese. Over 2,400 U.S. servicemen lost their lives
